Gertrude Tumpel-Gugerell

President

has been actively involved in European financial and monetary policy for many years. From 2003 to 2011, she was a member of the Executive Board of the European Central Bank (ECB), where her responsibilities included payment systems and financial market infrastructures. She has held numerous management positions at the Austrian Central Bank (OeNB), including that of Deputy Governor. Her career has been characterised by her commitment to the stability and further development of the European financial system, accompanied by a wide range of academic and advisory activities. She has been president of the Schumpeter Society since 2026.
